Frequently Asked Questions
Rentals are for a minimum of 4 days - the first selected day is reserved as a delivery day and doesn't count within the 4 days. You will be required to ship the item back on the last day of your selected rental period.
Make sure to select the correct dates when renting to ensure you will be able to receive the package and ship it, otherwise you will be charged Late Fees (see Fees incurred by late return in the Fees section below for more information).
Rentals are shipped via USPS so please be mindful of national holidays and weekends when selecting your return dates. You may contact us via our contact page or at info@thehirenewyork.com for any additional questions regarding shipping.
The Retail Cost sets the value of the item: in most cases it is the amount the item is sold for, however some items will be listed at a higher retail cost than they are sold for if they are sold out or hard to source. The Retail Cost is what may be charged if an item is not returned, or damaged beyond repair. See the below Fees section for further information on damage fees.
At The Hire, we strive to operate in the most eco friendly way possible by providing reusable garment boxes instead of disposable packaging.
Your rental will be sent with a prepaid return shipping label to make the process as smooth as possible for you. Our boxes are designed to be reused for the return, simply apply the return label over the shipping label, and re-seal the box with the resealable tab.
If needed, you can use your own box but we ask you return the inside box or bag the garment came in.
Though we are prepared for normal wear and tear, damage to our items may incur an additional charge for the renter. See below for more information on Fees incurred by damage.
Rentals are shipped via either USPS or UPS and we take care of making sure the package is delivered on your chosen first rental day: signature is required for delivery so please make sure you select a delivery address where you or someone you trust can receive the package. We ask that you be mindful of your return date and whether it lands on a national holiday or closure day for your post office. We account for rentals to be dropped off up to the evening of your return day and assume tracking starts the next day. If for any post-office closure reason you are unable to return your parcel on your return day, please contact us via our contact page or at info@thehirenewyork.com
Fees incurred by late return
Returning your rental in due time ensures a smooth transition to the next renter. Our rental calendar system allows for enough time in between rentals to dry clean the garments and prepare them to be like new for the next customer. We ask that you contact us if for any reason you need to extend your rental period. If you do not contact us and return it late, a fee of $40 per day will be applied until our tracking updates to show that it was sent back.
Fees incurred by damage
We are prepared for normal wear and tear (to see what we consider regular wear and tear, please see our full Terms of Service), however if a garment is returned with a stain or tear that isn't easily reparable by our dry cleaners/tailors, a charge will be added to your method of payment for any additional fees required for the repair/cleaning, up to the full retail cost if the item needs to be replaced.
Fees incurred by non return or damage of packaging
Our garment boxes are made of quality materials to provide a luxurious experience when renting our clothing. Because of the cost of production, we ask that you return them with your rental. Non return of packaging will incur a charge of $100 per garment box.
Launched in July 2022, our website has limited sizing, but as we are growing we are adding more sizes to our inventory, if you are interested in an item that we don't have in your size, please message us via our contact page and we will do our best to accommodate you.
